Peninsula, Joint, and WKE
A quiet day. This morning I was at Peninsula for two classes again. Today, the 7th graders were making their posters, and a few of them needed to reshoot their pictures. The first class worked pretty efficiently to finish their posters, while the second class had a lot of reshoots, and most kids didn't finish and had to stay at lunch. Tomorrow is my last day at Peninsula; Teafly will be teaching the Caldera class, and I'm staying for the assembly where Teafly will show a slideshow of all the best photos that the kids took. I'm super excited to see it!
After Peninsula, I went back to the office for a quiet day. I filed some papers for a while, and then a woman from Studio showed us Joint and WKE. Joint is a video production center, and the space is really cool: the walls are curved at the bottom, which kind of makes the rooms feel like they are part of a skatepark or something. I'm not really sure what WKE does, but they make films and have a radio show. Exploring these other areas of Wieden+Kennedy is really interesting! Not sure what we'll be doing tomorrow after Peninsula, but I hope that I get to see more of the W+K building!

I continue to be fascinated by the juxtaposition of the two visiting sites you are pursuing in your senior project: Peninsula and Weiden and Kennedy. The choice they suggest, whether to go into a selfless professional commitment like teaching pre-adolescents, or, following a highly creative but equally stressful option like working in an advertising agency, will probably reflect a similar career choice you will someday make. Can you imagine a braided career that could somehow incorporate both? Interesting thought, huh? Your blogs have been really fun to read, and I look forward to hearing from you when you're back on campus!

slide show?
How were the pictures? Were you inspired?
Can you take photos of these curved walls that make me think of surgery rooms despite the fact that I know they're meant to be sharp, cool and not sterile....
I do hope you get more of the W&K building. I'm vicariously enjoying it.
See you soon,
