Never on time

I'm working at not showing up a minute early or precisely on time to meetings that I sit in on for my senior project. At Ziba, the meetings often start just a little late. At one I showed up a minute early and another meeting was going on in the same room, and I was told I was in the wrong place. Then someone said that the meeting I showed up for was in there next, so I was actually in the right place. The woman who had told me I was in the wrong place just turns to me and says, "Your mistake was being one time." Definitely something for me to adapt to, but I feel I'm doing a decent job at it. They started joking about how they like to be fashionably late, and that since they're designers they're extra fashionable and thereby extra late. I love my senior project so far. Definitely entertaining.

Meeting culture...

Hi, Becky.

I'm enjoying reading about your Ziba discoveries. At Catlin, certain meetings start RIGHT ON TIME, while others are 5 minutes after the appointed time. There's also that unwritten protocol about the beginning of meetings. Sometimes people chit chat for a few minutes, until one person draws us all back together to focus on the task. At other times there is absolutely no chit chat, and to start to do so demonstrates the wrong attitude. Meetings are quirky creatures. The longer you work for an organization, the more of them you end up attending...

I definitely arrive two minutes late to everything in my office and I swear I'm still the first one there! Crazy adults :]
