I Can Fly...a Plane?

I had a very exciting day. First I continued to make information packets for the pilot career seminar. Okay, that wasn't so exciting. I made packets for about two hours when Ryan told me that I would be flying in an airplane today. He let me borrow his headphones (they cancel out the noise from the airplane and allow clear communication) and suggested I bring sunglasses and a camera since it was such a beautiful day. I flew with Kelly one of the flight instructors and her student Edward. Edward is one of the international students from Asia. He was working on getting his instrumental license. That just means that he needs to know how to use all of the different navigational instruments on the dashboard. During the flight he flew with a hood on which simulates a cloudy day blocking his vision. He mostly has to rely on using his tools. The flight was a lot of fun. We flew over Newberg. I took lots of really cool aerial pictures. Kelly also pointed out this 747 airplane that was decommissioned and a man had it turned into his house. I did get scared at one point because Edward has a clip board where he would take notes of the direction that Kelly gave him. He misunderstood something and over the course of three minutes or less, Kelly had leaned over to point and draw on his paper. I thought we were going to plummet, but it was really just me being paranoid. After the really cool flight I went back to helping them prepare for Saturday.

Wow! What a great day to fly! So, are you going to train to be your own pilot?

Since I have been spending my

Since I have been spending my time at Hillsboro Aviation I think I might. I hope to maybe after college or during the summer to get my private pilot license. I'm still not sure whether I want a helicopter or airplane license.

It appears that you had a positive first week, and that you got the chance to ride in a plane with the instructor and student. Cool! I suspect you will be learning a lot more about the operation and the aviation school. I can't wait to visit you on site. Say hello to Rekha for me. Roberto

Kalifa!

Ahh that sounds so cool! You should post some pictures...

Wow!

What a neat experience! Yesterday was so beautiful, I bet you had fantastic views of the mountains. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think Catlin looks like from a bird's eye perspective...
