Monday I arrived at work for 8am. Today Ryan took me to the weekly instructor meeting for the helicopter and airplane pilots. They talked about flight procedures and new policies about weather and other important stuff that pertains to their flight. Then Ryan introduced me to all of them and they also gave me a warm welcome. On my second day I had more time to take in my surrounding and I noticed how many different international students there were. Some of them come from Germany, Norway, China, Japan, Taiwan and many other places. It was really cool to see so many different people trying to earn their licenses. The rest of the day I worked with Chris. He is the director of the airplane instructors. I helped fix study books for students by finding references that people could look up. I also entered data about the lessons students have completed. Chris is really cool he took me out onto the ramp and told had me help him check that the airplanes were secured properly. I also got to go inside of a king lear that maintenance was fixing.

Tuesday I was early again because I attend the staff meeting. Ryan wanted me to see how the different departments work together. That morning they were talking about the Pilot Career Seminar (PCS) that is this Saturday. They had outlined everything and went over the whole schedule and was supposed to happen. Then Ryan had me spend the rest of the day with Jared. He is the director of the helicopter instructors. I contacted instructors to let them know they have to attend the PCS on Saturday. I also called other instructors about money that students needed to pay. I got to introduce myself to a lot of the instructors who are really nice to me. A funny thing happened when I called one of the instructors. Well, actually it was scary. I tried contacting this one instructor, but the phone just rang out and he didn't have a voice mail. So I tried calling him again and I reached him, but it turned out he was flying a helicopter at the time. Later Jared had me sit in with him while he interviewed people that were applying to be helicopter instructors. Then the rest of the day I helped Daniela with set up for orientation. Tomorrow they have five new students joining Hillsboro Aviation.

Kalifa's first three days

Kalifa: You have been busy these first three days. It looks like you are getting familiar with all the instructors and operation of the flight school. I also see that you will be also focusing on the business aspect of the operation, which is good. You gave such a nice detailed account, I can't wait to read your future blogs. Roberto
