Seriously, go visit the Berry Botanic Garden

First off, I'd like to say to everyone: Go visit the Berry Botanic Garden! As you may or may not know, the BBG is doing pretty badly financially, and might close within the year. Therefore, you should go visit it before that happens. Seriously, it's one of the most beautiful places ever, and admission is only 5 measly bucks. I know I'll be going there in the near future.

Also, the seed bank program is moving to PSU, which I mentioned earlier. So... if you go there, check it out.

Now, onto something less depressing.

Thursday, Day 12

Today, I basically just labeled a truckload of Physaria didymocarpa. Seriously, there was so much of it that I couldn't fit all of the accessions into one big laminate envelope. Or two. Or three.

Mary came in today, again. Over lunch, she, Erin and I had a conversation about SNL sketches with Will Ferrell (well, they had a conversation and I listened eagerly). Mary tried to tell us a joke (something to do with some old show and Skeletor (?)) but she kept bursting into laughter before she could get to the punch line. And that, in turn, made us all crack up even more.

Mary also brought some nice chocolate with almond butter. Yum.

Friday, Day 13

So... apparently I'm not actually supposed to be up in the lab without either Ed or Erin supervising me. Since Erin doesn't work on Fridays and Ed had another conference call, I couldn't really do anything until he came in. But since I'm working a full week, I have enough hours already (unlike last time). So I took the morning off, then came in at 1:00 to start working. It was supposed to be 12:30, but there was some major pre-Memorial Day Weekend traffic, even on 217. Anyway, I tackled more of the Physaria didymocarpa.

Also, site visit! Sue came in at 2:30, and we toured around the BBG gardens and inside the building itself. Ed and Sue had a lengthy conversation about plants and history. It was pouring cats and dogs (Sue had to borrow an umbrella, it was that bad) and I couldn't figure out how to get into the nursery area (all the doors were locked), but it was still great. I hope Sue had as much fun as I did.

PS: Happy belated birthday, Amma! :)
