Last day

This Senior Project has really gone by fast. It's hard to believe it's been almost a month, I've been having so much fun.

Anyway, I went to work at the usual time, with a special present for my wonderful mentors. Since Erin was so nice about sharing her chocolate, I thought I should return the favor, so I went to New Seasons yesterday and purchased a few bars of organic, fair trade dark chocolate, which I gave to Ed and Erin at lunchtime.

Tuesday: Day 14 (and final day!)

In work-related news, I FINALLY finished labeling the Physaria didymocarpa. Seeing all those big silver envelopes sitting neatly ordered in their box gives me such intense satisfaction. Anyway, after that, I helped Erin sort through and count the problem seeds. It seemed fitting that I end my Senior project with seed counting and cleaning, since that's what I started with when I first began volunteering here last summer, and it's what I enjoy most. Today, I tackled some Lilium occidentale, which tends to get rather staticky but is also relatively large.

I love everyone at the Berry Botanic Garden. When people found out it was my last day, they all wished me luck at Scripps and invited me to come by if I was in the area. Erin's birthday was the 29th, so there was a lot of dessert laid out on the table in celebration.

I left the Berry Botanic Garden for what may be the last time at 5 PM, and headed home while pondering on my Senior Project experience. It's one that I'll never forget, and at the risk of sounding overly sappy, it's one that I'll cherish.

Before I end this blog post, I'd like to say 'thank you' to my parents, who put up with my 45 minute one-way commute to the BBG. It might be a long distance, but it was definitely worth it.

Ed and Erin, you two are the best mentors ever :) Also, all those BBG volunteers and staff, named and nameless in my blog, who made me feel like a part of the family for my short stay.

And if you have even glanced briefly over my blog posts, thank you, and I hope I didn't bore you too much :)

Well, then, I guess that's it. This is Priyanka Chary, signing out.
