For once, I don't have to use a magnifying glass
All right, last week of senior projects.
Wednesday, Day 11
So today I entered some more dead plant tags (Mirabilis macfarlanei this time) into the database. Erin gave me chocolate covered coffee beans, which were actually pretty good. There's so much good chocolate at the BBG. Not that I'm complaining.
After lunch, I got back to work going through the problem seed box. Among other seeds, I finished a lot of Cornus nuttallii (dogwood) seeds, which are nice to work with because they're the size of sunflower seeds and therefore very easy to count, but also bad because not very many of them fit into a glassine envelope. Across from me, Erin was working on some seeds (I can't remember the name at all, only that their abbreviated name code thing is MOHO), which were practically specks of dust. The sad thing about these seeds, though, is that they have no provenance (that is, information about where they came from, or any sort of identification besides the type of seeds) which, of course, is why they're in the problem seed box. Without that, they're pretty much useless for conservation or replanting purposes, so they'll probably end up in the educational garden area. Or so Erin said.
We went for a walk around the garden just before she left (Erin mentioned something interesting - the garden is always changing. I came out here at the beginning of May, and it's pretty different now than it was then). After that, I struggled through several packets of seeds and talked to Ed about dogwoods before heading home at 5.
I was talking with Erin while counting seeds, and when I mentioned how depressed I was that my senior project was almost over, she suggested that I come in and volunteer sometime. I'm surprised how excited I was at the thought of coming in on my own time during the summer and volunteering. I mean, I'm seriously considering it. That really shows how much I love this project, in my opinion.
Oh wait, I remember now. It's Montia howellii.
In other news, I finally found my phone! Alright, this means I can start uploading more pictures to my blog.
If you ever read this, Meghana, then happy birthday! :) I love you!

I'll stop by to see you tomorrow!
Hi, Priyanka.
I'm so glad that you're having such a good experience. This month flew by, didn't it? In case Ed didn't tell you, I'll be coming by to see you on the job tomorrow at 2pm, if that's ok with you. It will be fun to see you. Oh, and I'm glad that you're considering volunteering this summer.
See you soon!
