Things are moving along
The details of my project are coming together! The committee asked me to post my project proposal and log my community service hours, and I've done both. I have also solved two other important logistical issues: the date and time of my concert, and the musicians playing on it.
My senior concert will take place on Tuesday, June 1, from 6:30 - 7:30 in the evening, at Jimmy Mak's. (Perfect timing - the evening of the final day of the senior project period.) The musical personnel will be as follows:
Andrew Olson - alto saxophone
Noah Hocker - trumpet
Spencer Stewart - bass
Duncan Standish - drums
I'm very excited to practice and perform with these musicians. All of us have played and traveled together in Thara Memory's American Music Program. These are some of my favorite people in the world to play with.
So aside from practicing and getting a good start on the concert material, there are only a few things I still need to do before the senior project period starts. I need to iron out with Randy when and how often I'll be able to come in and help in the studio. I need to schedule the weekly rehearsals with the other musicians. And I need to publicize the concert! I want to fill that place up, which means bringing in 100, 150 people. I'll make a facebook group, send teachers and relatives formal invitations, and I may coerce an artistic friend into designing an attractive promotional poster. I'm very excited for May.

Looking forward to it!
Hi Ted,
I'm excited for your concert! We were talking about it in C&C and the question came up of whether minors would be able to get into Jimmy Mak's...I'm guessing yes, but can you let us know if not?

all ages concert
Hi C and C,
It is indeed an all ages concert. If you want to stay and watch the Mel Brown Septet, minors have to leave at 9:30 because of liquor laws. But my set is from 6:30 to 7:30, so yes! Everyone's welcome!
