It was hard to distinguish Sunday from Monday for all the sleep that I managed to get. Even with exhaustion dragging at my eyelids I managed to haul myself upstairs to get a much needed change of clothes. After a long walk down Vista, I arrived at the bus stop around 8:15 am. I took the #20 down to the stadium then the #15 over to Belmont. Much to my annoyance, the #15 was late so it took me the better part of an hour to reach my destination even with a lack of traffic on the road. Today, I learned that Profile rents most their lighting instruments while they have only a small number of their own. Young Man From Atlanta had finished it’s run, and it was time to return all the rented instruments to Bob’s Lights (Yes that really is the name). I met with the lighting designer in the space before we started working which involved climbing on rickety 18 foot ladders to retrieve the instruments using my trusty adjustable wrench. The most interesting part was when we were attempting to reach the lights above the seating areas which necessitated squeezing the ladder between the seats and leaning it against the wall. As I believe I mentioned earlier, it’s been awhile since I’ve gotten to do any lighting work at school so even just this was a welcome experience. Currently, I’m sitting in rehearsal and from my seat I can see 28 6” Fresnels, 12 50˚ ETC Source4’s, 6 Source4 PAR’s, and 12 miscellaneous work lights.
