Sara Nordhoff, Director of Admission and Financial Aid
Sara is excited to be at Catlin Gabel as the director of admission and financial aid. Her professional background is in higher education admissions at Mount Holyoke, Bennington, and Dartmouth Colleges, where she’s read many wonderful applications from Catlin Gabel seniors. Sara’s undergraduate degree is from Middlebury College, and she has a master’s degree in communications from Boston University. Most weekends you’ll find Sara outside playing with with her husband Andy, kindergartner Riley Dan, baby boy William, and their pup, Brew.

Mary Braun, Associate Director of Admission
Mary is thrilled to work with families pursuing admission to the Beginning and Lower Schools. Her professional background includes admission work at Mounds Park Academy, a preschool through 12th grade independent school, as well as a number of enrollment service roles in higher education at St. Catherine University and Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She also spent a year working at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand. Mary earned her undergraduate degree at the University of St. Thomas and her master’s degree from St. Catherine University. She and her husband Greg live in SE Portland and love to spend time outdoors running, biking, hiking, and camping.

Lisa Unsworth, Assistant Director of Admission
Lisa enters her third year with the admission team working with Upper School tours and visits and off-campus community events. She has a background in education from Drury University and Gonzaga, and a physical education degree from the University of Calgary in Canada. Previously, Lisa worked in college athletics and admission. Lisa avidly supports of all Catlin Gabel performances, competitions, productions, athletic events, outdoor activities, and community events.

Karen Joy Warton, Admission Data Coordinator
Karen has spent a decade with the Catlin Gabel admission team, managing applicant files, database records, and related reporting. Her professional background is in prospect research and data systems integration. Karen’s undergraduate studies at Portland State University were divided between foreign languages, geology, and music; she also holds a master’s degree in library and information science from Texas Woman’s University. Karen and her husband, John, spend most of their time trying to keep up with their daughter, Katie.

Chris Woodard, Admission Administrative Assistant and Receptionist
Chris has worked at Catlin Gabel for almost 22 years, the last four in the admission office. An Oregon native, Chris has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Oregon. Before Catlin Gabel, Chris worked at the Multnomah County Library, OMSI, and trained as a court reporter. Her two children, Sarah '02 and Sam '06, are Catlin Gabel "lifers." Chris spends her time after hours walking, reading, and hanging out with her husband Rick and their two golden retrievers, Jake and Sophie.

Mary Yacob, Admission & Financial Aid Coordinator
Mary is expanding her role again this year to become a full-time member of the admission and financial aid office. She will be managing parent tours and Middle School visits in addition to coordinating the financial aid process and asissting with admission events. She has been with Catlin Gabel in various roles over the years, including as a parent, in the business office, and you may recognize her from the Upper School office. Mary graduated from Pepperdine University and has corporate experience in market research and financial research companies in both Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. A Portland native, she lives with her husband, Sherman, and their two kids, Patrick and Samantha.
